The Demands of the Iraqi People in The Arab Summit Recommendations
This episode of the program was allotted for the viewers, in order to listen to their opinions regarding the subject; therefore, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ta’ee, the producer and presenter of the program, opened a hot-line with the viewers, for that purpose; then he talked about the hosting of the Arab Summit by Iraq and the issues that ought to be put in the Summit’s agenda, and he pointed to the need that Iraq presents its issues with terrorism and the interferences of the neighboring countries, as well as, some pending issues with these countries. He, also, drew the attention to the need that the follow-up on the resolutions and recommendations, emerging from the Summit, be put to effect and work on fulfilling the aspirations of the Arab Peoples in general and the Iraqi People in particular.
The first telephone call came from Mr. Ali Badran, from Basrah, who explained that the Arab Summit will come- out with recommendations that will serve Iraq on all levels, but they will be, only, on paper. He, also, pointed that the matters, which will be discussed by the Arab Summit, will not be translated into actions on the ground, because some Arab States detest the political system that exists in Iraq.
A second call came from a Mr. Mohammed from the Holy City of Karbala, in which he explained that the Iraqi People wants, from the Arab Summit, to put an end to the terrorism practiced against Iraqi. He, also, called upon the Iraqi Government to take a deterrent stand towards the terrorists and against those, who market the thought of considering the others as infidels, in the country.
A third call was from a Mr. Abu Khalid, from Mosul, who called for the need to give the Federal Government the chance to make the Arab Summit a success; because that will constitute a victory for Iraq and all the Iraqis. He, also, called upon the leaders of the blocs to unify their address, and stop the spasmodic statements in order to help in the success of the Baghdad Summit.
Another telephone call came from a Mr. Ameer, from Baghdad, in which he explained that the political blocs must focus on serving the country and providing services for the Citizens, away from the political struggles. He, also, pointed that the Arab States and the neighboring countries ought to help Iraq and prevent the exportation of terrorism to it. Then, called upon the Iraqi officials to, courageously, put forth Iraq’s problems with the neighboring countries, at the Summit.
This was followed by a call from a Mr. Abbass, from the Netherlands, in which he explained that among the priorities of the Iraqis’ demands is that the Summit calls upon the United Nations to exit Iraq from under Chapter (VII); in addition to confronting terrorism and to stand in the face of the “Fatwas” that considers the others as infidels, which are issued against members of the Iraqi People, as well as, helping Iraq in removing the effects of the wars fought by the tombed regime, and especially those connected to environmental pollution. He, also, pointed to the need for raising the issue of the water problems with the neighboring countries.
The viewer, a Mr. Ahmed, from Baghdad, telephone to call upon the Government to take action and close the media channels that instigate against Iraq and broadcast the “Fatwas” that considers the others as infidels. He, also, pointed to the need that Iraq approaches that Arab States that harbor those who finance terrorism and work on failing the political process in the country.
At this point a telephone call came from the writer and independent politician, Mr. Abdul Haleem Al- Rohaymi, in which he explained that combating terrorism has been put in the agenda of the Baghdad Summit. He, also, pointed that the majority of the Arab States suffer from terrorism; thus its combating is a must. Then, he added that Iraq ought to work on exchanging economy with the Arab States, with whom it has trade relations and interests, with supporting political stands; pointing that Iraq is aware of its interests and acts accordingly with the Arab or non-Arab neighboring countries.
